One of the hidden gems right here in our own neighborhood is the CPN Eagle Aviary, one of only a handful of tribe-based eagle habitats in the United States, and we are fortunate to have one right here in Shawnee. The wonderful folks at the Eagle Aviary took us on an in-depth adventure into their habitat, housing the most majestic of birds, along with their efforts to nurse them to health in their unique habitat, and then release them into the wild to foster the rebirth of a species that was close to extinction just a few years ago.
