On Thursday 7/25/2024, Shawnee Lions Club hosted Ryan Brooks from Uplift Mentoring, a private, nonprofit effort to provide role models, friends and mentors for young children in the Shawnee area. It works with groups of young athletes and others in schools, as well as adult volunteers at the Uplift campus, Center and Walnut, to engage children in play and learning activities, and help them learn and practice good decision-making and have fun. Uplift grew out of Mission Shawnee and depends on donated funds.
In addition, our very own Lion and past president David Spires was awarded a 10 year service chevron during the meeting.
